Licensed Customs Broker

A well-established international freight forwarding and customs brokerage firm is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to join their team in the Greater Chicago Area (on-site). This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented trade compliance professional to manage complex import and export transactions within a growing organization that offers NVOCC and full-service logistics capabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES - Classify goods and prepare customs entries for import shipments, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance - Review and interpret tariff schedules, trade agreements, and customs regulations to determine duty rates and admissibility requirements - Serve as the primary point of contact for U.S. Customs and Border Protection on behalf of clients - Manage post-entry processes including protests, rulings requests, and audit responses - Advise internal teams and clients on import/export requirements, free trade agreements, and duty mitigation strategies - Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders - Maintain accurate records in compliance with customs regulations and company policies - Collaborate with freight operations, sales, and finance teams to ensure seamless shipment processing QUALIFICATIONS - Active U.S. Customs Broker License required - Minimum 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or trade compliance - Strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and CBP entry procedures - Familiarity with ACE, ABI, and customs brokerage software systems - Experience with NVOCC or international freight forwarding operations preferred - Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple entries simultaneously - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work on-site in the Greater Chicago Area COMPENSATION - Base salary range of $75,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience and credentials - Benefits package included - Opportunity for growth within a well-connected international logistics organization
