JAX Station Manager
Confidential - Freight Forwarding Company
Jacksonville, FL (remote through end of Q2 2026, in-office at JAX terminal starting Q3 2026 — MANDATORY) | $90,000 - $140,000+
About This Role
# JAX Station Manager — Roam Logistics
Roam Logistics is a relationship-driven freight broker built around white-glove, temperature-controlled, and specialized freight. We're not a commodity-rate shop — we win on service, communication, and the kind of hands-on relationships that get a phone call answered at 10pm when something goes sideways on a high-value load.
We're expanding our footprint with a new Jacksonville terminal, and we're hiring the founding team for that office.
## What You'll Own
- **Build and lead the JAX team.** You're employee #1 in Jacksonville. Hire the dispatchers, customer-service coordinators, sales reps, and back-office staff that scale this terminal from zero. You set the culture; you set the standard.
- **Run terminal operations end-to-end.** Daily load planning, carrier sourcing, dispatch, exception management, customer communication. You're the person every call goes to when something's stuck at a dock at 11pm.
- **Own the JAX P&L.** Hit revenue, gross profit, and margin targets you'll set with ownership. Manage the cost side just as hard — non-billable miles, claims, detention exposure, comp expense, office overhead.
- **White glove + specialized standards.** Roam wins by handling high-value, temp-controlled, and white-glove freight correctly. Every load that moves through JAX hits that bar or you push back hard internally before we accept it.
- **Customer + carrier relationships.** Be the senior face on key accounts — quarterly reviews with BCOs, on-site visits with shippers, building the bench of preferred carriers in the JAX-to-everywhere lanes.
- **Reports directly to ownership.** You're trusted with autonomy, but you communicate up early when something's off-track.
## What You Bring
**Required:**
- 7+ years in freight brokerage / 3PL operations, with at least 3 years running a branch, station, or P&L
- Hands-on with TMS platforms (Aljex, McLeod, Profit Tools, McLeod LoadMaster, or comparable)
- Deep relationships with carriers in the SE — Jacksonville port, Savannah, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Orlando freight flows
- White-glove, temp-controlled, or specialized freight experience (NOT a commodity TL/LTL background)
- Proven track record of hiring, retaining, and developing dispatchers and ops staff
- Comfortable owning the unglamorous parts: chasing PODs, fixing OS&D, sitting with collections on aged AR
**Would NOT fit:**
- Large-3PL middle managers used to layers of support staff and process
- Commodity-rate brokers focused on spot van/dry freight at lowest margin
- Sales-only operators without ops chops
## Compensation & Why JAX
- **Base salary: $90,000 – $140,000** depending on experience and book of relationships
- Performance bonus tied to JAX P&L
- Founding-team equity-style upside in a fast-growing specialized broker
- Health, retirement, standard benefits
- **Real autonomy**: you're not running someone else's playbook. You build it.
## Location & Work Arrangement (Mandatory)
- **Jacksonville, FL** — this role is JAX-based, non-negotiable. Candidates outside the JAX metro will not be considered.
- **Remote-first launch**: work from home through the end of Q2 2026 (June 30, 2026) while we build out the JAX terminal infrastructure.
- **In-office from Q3 2026 onward**: starting July 1, 2026, daily work happens at our JAX terminal. This is not a long-term remote role.
