About This Role

# Freight Sales Representative (1099) — Roam Logistics · Jacksonville Roam Logistics is a relationship-driven freight broker built around white-glove, temperature-controlled, and specialized freight. We're not a commodity-rate shop — we win on service, communication, and the kind of hands-on relationships that get a phone call answered at 10pm when something goes sideways on a high-value load. We're expanding our footprint with a new Jacksonville terminal, and we're hiring the founding team for that office. ## Deal Structure This is a **straight-commission 1099 contractor role** — independent contractor working under Roam's MC, credit line, and operational infrastructure, compensated 100% on commission of GP you generate. No base salary, no draw. **No equity, no agency banner buy-in, no franchise vesting** — this is sales, not ownership. ## Who This Is For The right candidate is a freight sales rep with at least a partial portable book of business, a non-compete that's clear or close to it, and the confidence to run on commission-only with a small specialized broker that pays out aggressively when you hit your numbers. JAX-based. ## What You'll Do - **Run your own desk.** Pick your accounts, build your pipeline, quote and close. Roam's ops team handles dispatch, claims, settlements; you handle the relationship and the revenue. - **Specialize in Roam's lanes.** White-glove, temp-controlled, and specialized freight is where we win and where the commission math works. If you're a commodity dry-van rate seller, this isn't the right deal for you. - **Cold-call and consultatively sell.** Roam customers buy on service quality, not on the cheapest rate. Your pitch is about reducing OS&D, hitting tight delivery windows, and managing high-value cargo correctly. ## What You Bring **Required:** - 3+ years in freight brokerage sales with documented GP track record - **Portable book** — even partial — with named shipper relationships - Non-compete / non-solicit clear or near-clear before start - Self-funded ramp tolerance — you're a 1099, you'll go a few weeks without significant comp at the start as you bring accounts over - White-glove, temp-controlled, or specialized freight background (NOT pure commodity van/dry) **Would NOT fit:** - Commodity TL/LTL reps with no portable book - W2 reps who want a base salary (apply for the W2 version of this role instead) - Anyone confused about the difference between a 1099 sales contract and an equity ownership deal — this is the former ## Compensation - **100% commission, no base.** Aggressive split on GP — bring the relationships, keep more of what you produce - 1099 contractor — you handle your own taxes, benefits, expenses - Backed by Roam's MC, credit line, dispatch, and back-office infrastructure - No earnings cap — your ceiling is what you build ## Location & Work Arrangement (Mandatory) - **Jacksonville, FL** — this role is JAX-based, non-negotiable. Candidates outside the JAX metro will not be considered. - **Remote-first launch**: work from home through the end of Q2 2026 (June 30, 2026) while we build out the JAX terminal infrastructure. - **In-office from Q3 2026 onward**: starting July 1, 2026, daily work happens at our JAX terminal. This is not a long-term remote role.
