Domestic Freight Sales Representative — Jacksonville
Confidential - Logistics Company
Jacksonville, FL | $55,000 - $85,000+
About This Role
# Domestic Freight Sales Representative — LMTS · Jacksonville, FL
LMTS (L&M Transportation Services) is a non-asset 3PL founded in 1977, headquartered in Raleigh, NC. We're built around fresh produce, refrigerated freight, and specialized cargo — with deep roots at Nogales, AZ (the largest Mexican produce border crossing) and growing capabilities across drayage and white-glove handling.
We compete on relationships, freight expertise, and the kind of service that gets us called first when a load of produce HAS to land on time at retail. We're hiring W2 freight sales reps to grow our footprint.
## Why Jacksonville
JAX sits on top of Southeast produce and food-and-beverage freight flows — Florida's growing fresh market, citrus, perishables out of the Port of Jacksonville, and the regional grocery + foodservice distribution networks across North Florida and South Georgia. A rep based in JAX with the right relationships can build a high-GP book on Southeast produce and reefer freight while also tapping LMTS's Nogales border footprint for cross-country lanes.
## What You'll Do
- **Open new logos in the JAX metro and broader Southeast.** Cold-call, network, and prospect produce shippers, food distributors, retail BCOs, foodservice operators, and pharma shippers across North Florida, South Georgia, and the I-95 / I-10 corridors.
- **Sell LMTS's specialized strengths.** Refrigerated and dry produce freight from Mexico into the US, white-glove handling, expedited freight, seasonal capacity, drayage at major Southeast ports. Pitch service quality, not the lowest CWT.
- **Build a portable book.** Quarterly business reviews, on-site shipper visits, real ownership of the account from quote through POD.
- **Coordinate with the Nogales and Raleigh offices.** When a SE customer needs Mexico-origin produce capacity, you're working live with the team that owns those carrier relationships.
- **Hit a quota** that ramps over the first six months as you build the book.
## What You Bring
**Required:**
- 2+ years of freight brokerage / 3PL sales experience — TL, refrigerated, produce, food & beverage, or pharma backgrounds are the strongest fits
- Proven track record of opening NEW logos — not just inheriting a book or farming existing accounts
- Self-sufficient prospecting discipline: cold calls, networking, trade shows, RFP pursuits
- Comfortable on phone, on the road, and at shipper sites
- Non-compete / non-solicit clear (or near-clear) before start date
**Helpful but not required:**
- Existing relationships with produce shippers, food distributors, retail BCOs, or pharma manufacturers
- Refrigerated / cross-border Mexico-US trade lane experience
- Knowledge of the Nogales border crossing or US-Mexico produce flow patterns
**Would NOT fit:**
- Commodity dry-van rate sellers with no specialized freight depth
- Account managers without a new-logo close history
- Reps with unclear non-compete status that could block a fast start
## Compensation
- **Base salary: $55,000 – $85,000** depending on experience and book portability
- Uncapped commission on GP generated — competitive split for a non-asset 3PL
- On-target earnings $120,000+ in year one for hunters who hit ramp targets
- Health, retirement, standard benefits
- Real career runway as LMTS grows specialized verticals (drayage, white glove added in 2024)
## Location & Work Arrangement
- **Jacksonville, FL based.** This is a JAX-region role; candidates outside the SE will not be considered unless they're relocating.
- Hybrid / flexible work arrangement once the JAX presence is established. Expect customer visits across the SE region.
