## About the Role
A growing 3PL — warehousing, transportation, fulfillment, and supply chain solutions for customers across a range of industries — is hiring a **Director of Sales** to lead commercial growth in their Central US region. **The hire must be Chicago-based.**
This isn't a startup, and it isn't a corporate maze. The company has built a strong operational foundation — warehouses, services, infrastructure, and leadership team are all in place. They've now turned their focus to **growth**, and the Director of Sales is the BD face of the business in the region.
Culture is **entrepreneurial, results-driven, and customer-first** — not flashy, not bureaucratic. They want someone who can genuinely help customers solve supply chain problems and become a real growth driver for the org.
## What You'll Own
- **Regional sales strategy** — design and execute the BD plan to deliver year-over-year revenue + EBITDA growth in the Central region
- **New business acquisition** — diagnose customer supply chain needs across warehousing, transportation, fulfillment; design tailored solutions; close
- **Pipeline ownership** — build and manage a robust pipeline targeting emerging brands through enterprise shippers
- **Regional P&L accountability** — sales performance, pricing strategy, profitability
- **Cross-functional partnership** — work directly with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and GMs to ensure seamless service delivery
- **Multi-year deal structuring** — negotiate pricing, service commitments, agreements that align with company capabilities
- **Market intelligence** — monitor 3PL competitive landscape; feed insights back into service offering, pricing, roadmap
- **Brand presence** — represent the company at industry events, trade shows, networking forums
Reports to the SVP of Sales.
## What We're Looking For
- **Chicago-based — this is non-negotiable.** No relo offers, no "I'll move once hired" — must already be living in the Chicago metro
- **5-7 years of senior sales leadership** in 3PL / warehousing / fulfillment / transportation / supply chain — this is non-negotiable, not transferable from outside the vertical
- **Proven hunter** — winning and scaling complex logistics accounts, not just managing existing ones
- **Deep 3PL fluency** — warehousing operations + transportation management + supply chain design as a single picture
- **Financial / analytical acumen** — comfortable managing pricing and profitability
- **Exceptional negotiation + executive-level relationship building**
- **Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial 3PL environment** — this is not a corporate desk job
- Ability to travel up to 20%
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or equivalent experience
## Compensation & Benefits
- **Base:** $150,000 – $180,000 DOE
- **Commission structure:**
- Year 1: **2%** of secured revenue
- Year 2: **1%**
- Year 3: **0.5%**
- **Transportation override:** **1% of transportation revenue** for 12 months from the first shipment date of any secured account
- **Other:** Phone reimbursement, medical / dental / vision, company-paid short & long-term disability, life insurance, critical illness / accident / hospital indemnity options
- **Work environment:** Flexible / hybrid arrangements once in role — but Chicago-area home base is required
